How to make an antenna?
Hello,
I need to make two antennas 17 cm (6.69 inches) long. One for a radio signal receiver, and another one for the radio signal transmitter. According to the datasheet, with a 17 cm antenna on the receiver and transmitter, the signals should reach 150 m. I don’t know what to use to make the antenna. Should I use wire? If I should use wire, then should it be stripped or have its plastic coating on it. Also, should it be stranded wire or solid wire?

In answer to your original question, stripped or not, stranded or not makes little difference. How you attach it to the radio is more important. Is there a connector to plug this wire in? Is this for a hand held radio? If not, the ground plane can have as much to do with the antenna performance as the wire.
The range (is that 150 miles?) is a function of the transmitter output power and the receiver sensitivity. There are many factors over and above the antenna length that will reduce the range.
