Provision for Parador three ways after leaving Barkly Homestead Roadhouse in the Northern Territory, have only 180kms to travel. The Roadhouse is the Caminos Tres right at the junction of the Barkly and Stuart Highways.
It was very hot with temperatures at 43 degrees and that our bus Mazda T3500 is not air conditioned, our suffering. The best time to travel in this area during the winter months, from April to September. October to April is hot and humid and streams and rivers can rise rapidly, causing flash floods.
It would be wise not to try to cross this water, unless you're familiar with the depth and speed, and we are confident that the road surface is in Good Condition. Assume nothing to travel safely.
We travel to the end of November we have a home to sit in Alice Springs. As my husband and I love travel and children's home the combination is great.
However, another way, the train happens to us. A prime mover in May or 53.5 mtree, transporting approximately 115.5 tons of cargo, with a maximum of four long trailers. To drive the vehicle and the trailer of our 18ft caravan means that we sit at a constant rate of 80 100kms, but the speed limit is set at 130km/hr on the Barkly and Stuart Highways. Rural roads are designated 110km/hr unless noted. That road asphalt is wide enough, it is preferable to stay there when I pass a truck.
However, travelers must drive at a speed that suits the vehicle, road, weather conditions and their driving experience. When driving on unsealed roads, sudden rain can quickly change the conditions and sealed and dirt roads can be cut. Be prepared with food, water and essential spare parts in the transport regions remote. We have a mobile phone equipped with an antenna mounted high on the trailer and a UHF radio on the bus.
We arrived at the intersection and turn right for about 50mtres Tres Caminos at The Roadhouse seat. You can head north to Darwin (962kms) or south of Alice Springs (533kms).
Our next stop is Tennant Creek, which is 25kms south. We find the battery Center Hill Mining 1.5 kilometers east of the city along Peko Road. This mechanism underground mine work, lighting and display, and sounds authentic instilled in us the spirit gold miners soon. Ray, our host, very informative, gives a fantastic trip, while the entertainment life of his long experience as a minor working in an underground gold mine.
Battery Hill also is the Tennant Creek Visitor Information Center for more information on the sector talk with staff. Remember to ask for directions to the winning Nyinkka Nyurnyu Aboriginal Cultural Center. Some staff are indigenous, they must be able to deliver for you.
Here you can meet local people Warumungu and hear their stories. The gallery has more features temporary exhibitions and a great view of contemporary Aboriginal life, history, cultural activities and art. We see outstanding exhibits Interpretation Warumungu showing the relationship with the land, the family resources of Bush and Bush Tucker.
We traveled 130 km south of the other and put the icon in the Barkly, Karlu Karlu called Devil's Marbles, which are 10 minutes north of Wycliffe Well Holiday Park. The Devil's Marbles are incredible and I am happy to have lots of photos. We drove around a small loop and return to the Stuart Highway.
Wycliffe Well Holiday Park is very different and unusual, with murals all along the caravan park. What delights us most is the peaceful setting Bush and the very friendly couple who run the park.
This is also known as the "UFO Capital of Australia, because most observations strange lights and craft. After a Chinese dinner coffee cooked by a Chinese couple, who avidly read the newspaper clippings UFO cover the walls. Scattered throughout the park Hulk statues, Elvis Presley and the Phantom. Very unusual.
There are about a dozen people gathered outside Aboriginal tent because their community store was broken in late evening and closed for repairs. There were Wycliffe Well Holiday Park to buy their supplies. Unfortunately, it is very drunk and politely refused more alcohol. He removed the towers and high voices after his car was stuck in the sand heavy in the bed of a river nearby. Unsurprisingly, the engine blows up.
A beautiful morning to wake up and walk along the railroad Recreational lake which is home to many ducks and geese. Train tracks? Yes, the park owner has installed a small train to entertain visitors during the tourist season.
We must be on the road, so to say goodbye to the friendly staff and the south of Alice Springs in our next exciting adventure.
