IDENTIFICATION OF PLASTICS
- In most plastic parts in the back symbol.This there will be a symbol indicates the type of plastic welder working. (If no symbol is found then weld the bars to see if the rod is sticking to the plastic)
- This is a very important step because the plastic rod must be completed along with the plastic being welded. (except if you use the Flex-fiber cane sugar, but that bar only comes in black)
- There are 2 families of 1) thermosetting plastics and thermoplastics 2)
- Thermosets can not be melted and reused.
- Thermoplastics can be melted and reused

Thermosetting plastic
- PUR, RIM, RRIM, which are often flexible. Bubbles and welding fumes when based Ne melted.When no base material! Melt the welding rod into the V-groove as a hot glue.
THERMOPLASTIC
- ABS-Acrylonitrile butadiene-styrene () – Hard, may be any color, used in plastic parts in the interior of cars, trucks and parts for cleaning household goods, etc. pot handles.
- The Boundary Commission-(ether ester block copolymer) – Flexible, off-white Color. Better use fiberflex Uni-Weld.
- EMA-ethylene methacrylic acid ()-semi-rigid, comes in many colors.Use Uni-weld fiberflex.
- -PA (polyamide (Nylon) Rigid, finely.Used sand in the radiator tank, headlight glass, pieces of exterior trim, mirror.
- PC + ABS polycarbonate ABS PULSE-()-rigid, usually dark sand finely.Preheat plastic welded prior to welding.
- PC + PBT (Xenoy a mixture of polycarbonate)-Very rigid.Used bumper plastic welded covers.Preheat before welding.
- Polyethylene PE-()-semi-soft, it melts and the extension when grinding generally Semi-translucent.Used overflow tanks, signs of homeland defense, ATV fenders. The application of filling or painting is impossible.
- Polypropylene PP-()-semi-soft, it melts and the extension when grinding.
- + PA-PPO (Noryl GTX (nylon blend))-semi-rigid, generally whitish in defense color.car and exterior trim. Preheat plastic with solder before soldering.
- TEEE-(ester thermoplastic elastomer ether) – Flexible, used on the bumper panels. Use fiberflex welding rod.
- TPE-()-semi-flexible thermoplastic elastomer, it background and extension when grinding. Used in the coverage of the bumper, hood Fiberflex low parts.Use Uni-welding rod.
- TPO, TEO, PP/EPDM- () olefin thermoplastic semi-flexible, bottom and smears when grinding. Used Gilles, interior parts, snowmobile cowls.Use Uni-Fiberflex welding rod.
- TPU TPUR-() thermoplastic polyurethane flexible sand. Bumper covers, soft filler panels. Use the scroll bar or Uni-Urethane Welding Rod Fiberflex.
While many household items are ABS, but not sure if you have to do a test in plastic welding. Be sure to take the test. When you will not be able to do so is not shown their hand and do more work (such as sanding, etc..) As always, beware
soldering iron is hot and can burn or cause a fire!
