BNC
Use
The Bnc Connector is used for connections of the RF signal into digital signals and analogue video interface series connection of the antenna amateur radio, aviation electronics (avionics) and many other types of electronic test equipment. It is an alternative to the connector when used for RCA composite video on commercial video devices, although many devices consumer electronics with RCA connectors can be used with the BNC only commercial video equipment via a simple adapter. connectors BNC are commonly used in 10Base2 thin Ethernet networks, both on cable interconnections and network cards, even if they were replaced by newer devices with Ethernet cabling does not use a coaxial cable. Some ARCNET networks use BNC coaxial cable end.
Specifications
BNC connectors exist in versions 50 and 75 ohms. At first, everything was 50 ohm cables used with the impedance mismatch small to be negligible at low frequencies. The 75 ohm types can sometimes be recognized by the dielectric reduced or absent in the mating ends. The different versions are designed to adapt to another, even if the impedance difference in the cable can cause signal reflections. Normally designed for use at frequencies up to 4 GHz and 2, respectively.
75 Ohm BNC are mainly used for video and DS3 Telco central office, while 50 ohms and are used for RF data. There was agreement that the BBC uses BNC connectors for video are still 50 ohms probably because the loss would hurt a BNC 50 ohms 75 ohms when connected to the error. Many receptors Vhf Antenna inputs used by 75 ohms, so often used 75-ohm BNC connectors.
History
The connector was named after his bayonet locking mechanism and its two inventors, Paul Neill of Bell Labs (inventor of the N connector) and Amphenol engineer Carl Concelman (Inventor of the connector C). Other backronym NLC has in recent years are: Neill-Concelman aby, aby connector N connector nut ayonet ayonet ritish Naval Naval Connector. The basis for the development BNC connector was largely the work of Mr. Octavio Salati, a graduate of the Moore School of Electrical Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania (BSEE '36, '63 PhD). He filed a patent in 1945 (awarded 1951) while working at Hazeltine Electronics Corporation to a connector placed in coaxial cables to minimize wave reflection or loss.
Similar connectors
The BNC connector is much smaller than the previous N or C connectors
A threaded version of the BNC connector, known as the TNC connector (for threaded Neill-Concelman) is also available. A performance above the BNC connector at microwave frequencies.
Triaxial BNC
BNC connectors are used in electronics NIM, but now are often substituted for 00 LEMO thumbnails that allow higher densities. For higher voltages, connectors MHV and SHV are generally used. MHV connectors are easily confused BNC connectors and can be made to mate with them by brute force. connector VHS was developed as a safe alternative to MHV connectors and no ordinary Intermate BNC connectors.
In the USSR, BNC connectors were copied that SR-50 (Russian: -50) and SR-75 (Russian: -75) connectors. These connectors have slightly different dimensions (Due to recalculate the imperial metric), but are generally interchangeable with BNC, sometimes with force applied.
Dual BNC (also known as twinax) connectors use the same shell type bayonet as a simple BNC connector, but contains two independent contact points (one male and one female) for connecting 78-ohm or 95 ohm shielded differential pair as the RG-108A. Are capable of operating at 100 MHz and 100 volts. Twin BNC BNC Intermate not ordinary.
Triaxial (also known as triaxial) BNC connectors are variants carrying both a signal and the guard, and the ground wire. These systems are used in sensitive electronic measuring, including manufacturing Keithley. [Citation needed] the first was designed with only one additional internal conductor, but later triaxial connectors also include a period of three shoes to exclude a forced change coupled with a BNC connector. The adapters are opportunities to allow the interconnection between the BNC tri-ax.
